309 partner visa - Online Application.

Hi All,

I have applied for 309 partner visa online on Dec 29, 2014 when I was in Bangladesh to get married. I submitted all the document including medical and PCC. Can someone tell what is the approx wait time for online submission? How the case officers are assigned for Online Submissions? Is it someone from Aus Embassy from Bangladesh or someone from Immigration office in Australia??? I am bit confused about it.

BTW, I am a Australian PR and my wife is from Bangladesh.

Thanks
Nasif

Hi Nasif,

I applied from Bangladesh and I had been notified it would take 9-12 months. It actually took exactly 12 months for them to approve the application.

My case officer contacted me within 1 months. It will be someone in Bangladesh from the Aus embassy in Dhaka. She asked me some general questions. Then I have been asked for medical within 5 months. I have been contacted afterwards for call records and communication records with my partner. And at the end I have been contacted for a new police certificate as it expires in 6 months I think.

Anyway it took exactly 1 year. It was a long and stressful wait. I applied for tourist visa and visited my partner in Australia during the visa processing.

It's a long wait but one morning your wife will get that amazing email!

Thanks
Shimul

Thank for the detailed Information Shimul.

Did you applied online or did you applied paper based application in Australian Embassy in Dhaka ?

I applied online on Dec 29. I have uploaded all documents, communications records (skype, email logs), marriage certificates, wedding pictures, medical, pcc....everything that I know of....

Furthermore, I want my wife to apply for tourist visa. Which visa she should apply? Do I have to mention that I have already applied for another visa?

Is it wait time for 309 online applications? Or is it specifically for Bangladeshi applicants as it is high risk country.??

Thanks

No worries.

I applied paper based. They didn't have online option for Bangladesh when I applied. But the time frame is same I guess.

If your wife wants to visit now, she would be apply on tourist visa. And follow all the instructions in the forms. Definitely you would be the sponsor and have to send the same relationship evidences that you have sent for 309.

All they need to know that your relationship is genuine and she has sufficient fund. It takes 10-12 working days for the decision of tourist visa.

I emailed DIAC before I applied for the tourist visa.

Thanks for your reply.

Which email address did you sent to DIAC? Should I do it before applying or after? Exactly what did you mention when you emailed?

Also when you got the 309 visa grant. Did they specifically mentioned to go out of Australia and return back?

Sorry I am asking too many question ... I just want to know the whole procedure ....

Hi

I just asked if it is alright to travel to Australia on tourist visa while waiting for 309 visa processing. The email address is: [email protected] or the email address that applicants case officer used to contact her. They take few days to reply.

I guess it's better if applicant sends the email with applicant number and stuff.

What do you mean by going out of Australia? I was in Dhaka.

Based on the info what I have got, if you are granted the 309 visa while you are in Australia with a Tourist visa, you must leave Australia and come back with the 309 visa...
