Claiming Points on Work Experience

Dear All,

I am from Dubai and now I am planning to apply for ACS but I have one confusion. I am an IT professional and started working in the same company, after completing my internship, as a full time employee, in 2003.

Due to some reasons, I gave a gap in my studies for 2 years and in that period, I continued working as a software engineer. Instead of completing my education in 2005, I completed in 2007.

My question is:

Can I count my experience from 2003 OR I have to count it from 2007? I have almost 8 years of experience if I count from 2003 because I am working without any gap.

Can I claim points against 5 years OR 8 years of work experience?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Thanks Sarah, but I am little bit confused after going through the details in the guide.

Work expressed to be at trainee or junior level is also not normally considered unless the applicant has already acquired a qualification which would have served as a means of obtaining the skills needed to perform the duties.
Now my work details are;

- Started bachelors in 2001
- After 4 semesters, I did my internship in June, 2003 for 3 months
- After internship, i was offered a full time job by the same company.
- I started working as a developer/programmer (full time). I gave a gap in my studies from Jan 2004 - Jan 2005
- In Feb 2005 I joined again my studies till Jun 2006. (I continued my job as well).
- In June 2007, I completed my remaining courses and completed my education in Dec, 2007.

In the light of the information given in the immigration guide, my question is;

Whether my experience will be counted as part time or full time OR will not get counted, at all. I was a full time employee and also my company has written the same on my experience letter.

I know that its hard to give my answer but I just want to make myself sure, before applying.

I'm sorry but this is a bit out of my league and I don't know how each assesing authority judges work experience. If indeed you did work full time I see no reason why they would consider it part time, as for the experience being relevant I have no way of knowing I'm sorry.
