I want to ring DIAC again just to double check, but when I rand earlier in the week the guy i spoke with confirmed that the bridging visa A would come into effect after the current 3 month stay, not at the expiration of the visa as a whole (meaning Sep12 in the case of my bf) hence you wouldn't have to leave every 3 months.

If you end up calling DIAC to double check also, I'd love to know if what they tell you corresponds to what I was told!
That's great news Genga, I'm sorry for making a false statement. You should double check just once more because we've all received bad information from DIAC before, especially the people who answer the phones. This is great news though so I'm glad I was wrong.

Hey guys.
My partner was on the same visa. We applied onshore, just before his 3 months were up. After the 3 months expired he was placed on bridging visa A, this meant he doesn't has to leave the country every 3 months We also had the no work restriction lifted.
