Travelling on a 572 whilst waiting for 820

Hi All,

Just looking for some clarification on travelling whilst waiting for the 820 application. I thought i had seen something addressing this in another post but can't for the life of me find it.

My Wife is on a 572 visa valid until 2013 she will continue studing until we recieve the our 820 visa. We intend to travel to mexico to spend christmas with her family during the tafe holidays.

the 572 has multiple enties so we are allowed to travel on the visa.

My question is as an 820 can only be granted while your onshore do we need to inform immigration that we are travelling so that the 820 is not granted whilst we are out of the country.

Cheers,
Blitzu

Do you have a case officer yet? If so I would inform them in writing of your travel plans. They will probably put your application on hold while you aware to ensure it's not granted while you are overseas. I would try and get that confirmed in writing. How long ago did you apply for 820?

August 8th 2011 , so it's only been a couple of months ( With the number of quick apps going through at the moment we don't want to get caught.)

Cheers,
Blitz
