Exclamation TR485 application and Bridging visa HELP

Hey guys,

One of my friends applied for TR 485 visa on 25/10/11, her previous substantive visa was tourist 676 visa (with further stay) which has expired on 26/10/11.

The application has been made online a day before the visa expiry, and we are expecting the bridging visa to be granted. But when we check the application status online, it shows "no current visa" after we click "View Entitlement Details".

As far as I know, the bridging visa should be automatically granted at the time of onshore application. we have received the confirmation email of the TR 485 application, but have not got the Bridging visa confirmation email. So will that just be a system delay? then we just wait? or do we need to contact DIAC?

Thanks

Thanks dusty_springfield,

just spoke to the DIAC operator and got it sorted out immediately.

She said it would be the problem of system delay.

But the BVA grant date is today 27/10, not the date we lodged application. Just thinking if I ring them tommorrow, and the grant date would be 28/10 (I assume), then what would 27/10 be, unlawful non-citizen date?. Uhhh...

Hi snety,

Your friend only become unlawful if he/she's not under any visa during the period of stay in Au. Fortunately the BVA granted just the following day. If it were granted on 28th, then on the practice, your friend would overstay visa for 1 day. Having said that, DIAC also admitted that's the system fault and you also have the lodgment day record so should be fine.

Cheers,

Yes fortunately I made the right decision to ring them up instead of just waiting for the stupid system, it will surely save us from dealing with some unseen troubles later on.

Thanks a lot for your advice.
