I applied for a partner visa and we were recently contacted and adviced that "We are now in a position to finalise your application pending your departure from Australia."
I'm not sure whether this is good news or not. Regardless, I have purchased a ticket to Singapore to be away and have let the dept. know of the dates so they can make their decision.
Being outside of Australia for 5 working days is not an issue, however my partner has Stage IV colon cancer and secondary liver cancer and is incredibly weak. I have become his carer and even though some friends can be with him while I am away, I am incredibly scared that something happens to him while I am away.
I have read all the documentation and there seems to be no waivers for this requisite of me having to leave the country.
Is it worth letting the dept. know about my current case to see if they would let me know the decision of the visa while I am still in Australia?
The following is what I have found on the web, which seems like a clear 'no'.
