Apply for Partner Visa Online - Time Sensitive

Hello everyone! I'm new to posting to the forum so apologize if the question(s) I have may have been answered somewhere. I have gone through some old post and found alot of great information here so thank you all for that.

So my question is that I'm currently on a WHV from Hawaii and was going through the sponsorship process with work, but due to issues outside my control the company has currently suspended all sponsorship applications until they sort out their issues. So this left me with two weeks before my visa expires to sort my life out.

My partner and I decided the best thing for us would be to apply for the 801/820 visa before my visa expires. We currently have a lease together, are registered here in NSW, have a joint bank account, and our utlities and Optus are in both our names.

So my question is that once payment is made, how long will have to get documents uploaded? As I filled out all information and the application is ready to submit. I still need to do medicals and police checks and not sure how long it takes or when to do it. I just want to be able to add more information after I pay for it.

Thanks again in advance!

The online application process is:

- fill out all the screens
- click "Submit" (or "lodge" or whatever the term is)
- pay the visa fee
- start uploading evidence

There's no published timeline for uploading evidence. It definitely doesn't need to be done within 24 hours, but most suggestions have been to try to get the vast majority of your evidence uploaded within 2 weeks .

You can do the police checks and medicals after your Case Officer requests this if you'd like - this means you have less chance of having them expire before your visa is granted (causing needless money and effort to redo them).

Maggie,

Thank you so much!! Gives me a little relief that it doesn't need to be done straight after the application is paid for!! I'll need a week or two to get all documents together and 888 forms from friends and family, and was worried about the medical and police checks as I hadn't done those and weren't asked during the sponsorship process through work.

You're actually lucky your visa is expiring - excellent timing. When you apply for the partner visa you'll get the BVA that will allow you to work/study as much as you want, and it will kick in as soon as your current visa expires. You'll also have travel rights should you need them - you'll be eligible to apply for a BVB if you need to leave Australia for a short time.

Thank you CollegeGirl!

I guess I was just stressing out as I was about set to get a sponsorship through work, and that fell through due to circumstances outside my control and left my partner and I with two weeks to decide what to do and get all documents over.

So far we have mutual friends and co-workers to do the 888's and now I'm just scanning everything ready to upload once the app is submitted tomorrow.

In the end we feel this is a blessing in disguise!

Thanks aledmonds! I'll get on those in the week to "speed" up the process. So I just received my bridging a visa last night! I was just confused about the 28 days thing on it, as I'll have all documents uploaded except meds and police checks in that window? But I have had a friend who said he's been on a bridge a over a year and should be fine.

You can go through 3 specific channelers now that can take between 5-7 days instead of the FBI 12-14 weeks.

I'll look into that Canegirl, thanks. Never mind re-read my Bridging A visa and it's 28 days after a decision is made.

As soon as I paid the online app, I received my Bridging Visa via e-mail; which is now in effect and going tomorrow during my lunch break to get Medicare taken care of.
