Gaining my own visa off of parent's existing one?

Hello,

I'm not too sure how to formally define my question here, but is it possible to create a new visa under my name off of a permanent visa that my parents already have obtained. The reason that I ask is I wish to continue living in Australia but the visa is in my dad's name and he plans to cancel it. We lived in Australia for nearly 2 years on this visa and moved back to the States several months ago. I was wondering if there is any way that I could use this current visa to create my own under my name so that I would have control over it? Is this at all possible? If not, would the fact my parents already have/have had one make it easier for getting my own?

Any help at all is appreciated. I'm only 18 so this is a subject I'm completely helpless on figuring out by myself.

Thank you!

I asked him and unfortunately he does not recall the exact name of the Visa, but it was basically a permanent visa for Skills. So, he got it because the ACT gov't, who sponsored the visa, was interested in his job skills.

Does this help at all? I'm sure if I dig deeper I could find out but does knowing that help at all in getting me a visa easier?

THANKS!

Hi gezza,
If its a skilled migration visa, it can't be transferred to you. Because the government gave it to your dad coz of the work he can do. If you want to go back to OZ you have to apply another visa. Depends on what you really want to do in OZ.

What steps should I take to go about that?
