Question Visitor to partner visa question

Hi everyone

I'm a bit confused about this and if anyone could help me out, i'd really appreciate.
Since october 2014 I'm in the process for Partner Visa. In november I applied for visitor visa and it's granted for 12 months, multiple entries, plus on each arrival to Australia, my visa is valid for 12 months. Which means, I could stay up to 2 years in Australia on visitor visa!!!
Did anyone get that?
And, what happens next with my partner visa? (I expect to be granted by the end of this year)
So, why would they give me that big ammount of time for visito visa, when partner is supposed to be granted relatively soon?

Thank you guys

Lindemann,

Please check and double check your tourist visa grant notification.

Usually when a visitor visa is valid for 12 months the staying permit is only up to 3 months. You are not allowed to stay more than 3 months per visit. This is however a multiple visa that allows you to come in and go for 12 months.

Just checked:
- Stay period: 12 months from the date of each arrival

That's great in a way.
When you're 309 is ready, the Department will ask you to leave Australia.

That can happen any day...hopefully sooner than later.

Best of luck!

I'd be skeptical of this.

What class of tourist visa did you apply for?

this visa condition would allow you to stay in Aus indefinitely??

is there a "must not enter by DD_MM_YYYY"?

That's great!

I'm hoping that the Department will facilitate this more to 300 and 309 applicants to minimise separation from loved ones.

As far as I was aware the longest they will grant a subclass 600 for is 12 months.

Even when they grant 5 year tourist visas to parents (who are waiting for permanent visas to be granted) they say you can only be in australia a maximum of 18 months in any 2 year period - even though the visa is valid for 5 years and it multiple entry.

Strange!

It's strange to me too, thought I haven't read it well.
And it's weird, because my partner visa should be granted this year.
But, you never know with embassies.
