Where will the child be born?

If in Australia, then as you are Australian citizen, child will be Australian citizen.

If child is born overseas, I believe there is an extra form you will need to fill that will not cost extra. It will be there dependents form.

If you are applying from overseas, do so before 1 Jul as fees will dramatically increase.

If applying later, bring wifey to Australia on a tourist visa and apply for the 820 here, she will be granted BVA and can stay until visa is granted.

For Australian citizens if born in Australia they automatically get citizenship and if born overseas you just apply for a citizenship by descent after the birth.
