Period of time to enter Australian shortened on Partner visa 100?

Just got the partner visa grant! but it was after only 8 months, and she told us it would take 12-14 months. It was granted today 18 May 2015, and the medicals were done 18 September 2014 and police check 9 September 2014, however it says we need to enter Australia by 9 July 2015, which is only 10 months after the police check...isn't it supposed to be 12 months? It's actually quite inconvenient for us to leave that early - we only have 6 weeks to sort everything out, quit jobs, close bank accounts etc, move out of our flat, say goodbye to everyone...it's really not enough time...does anyone know why the entry date is so early? Do you think there has been a mistake?

Who was 'she'?

Medical reports are usually valid for 12 months, but might have had an earlier expiry date. This is unlikely unless you signed a health undertaking.

You could enter Australia briefly to activate your visas and return, you would then have 5 years to make the move permanent.

Sorry, "she" is our case officer.

We could do that, but we're in france so it's quite expensive to get a return ticket
