Unhappy SUB 886 Waiting for 5 years, seek assistance

Hi there,

I applied as a skilled immigrant 5 years ago with NATTI diploma, half a year later policy changed and my case had been pending since then. Sub class 886 which is unavailable now. I have been spending 7 years in Australia and I really love this country. ATM I have a bridging visa with undefined stay period, 1 year ago I was still optimistic with the progress since immigration officer reveiwed applicants by Dec 2009 and I handed in my application on Feb 2010.But now I am worried about the PR everyday and getting insomnia, think of my parents in China and they are nearly 60 as myself from a fresh graduate to nearly 30. And my mum's 60th birthday is coming on next new year's day, I do want to give her the present that I get my PR granted. I am willing to do anything within my capability to accelerate the progress! Or any useful idea for me to realise my dream to stay in Australia! Thank you very much indeed!!

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this. I do know that the Immigration Department is talking about speeding up the process for the remaining priority 5 applications. There were recently stories on the ABC and Sydney Morning Herald talking about this. Every chance I get with people from the Department I argue that it would be best for every one for these visa applications to be finalised so that then candidates could settle into normal life in Australia, be eligible for housing loans etc.

Hopefully we will see some movement this year.
