Visa

Hi all I'm looking for someone from the uk with experience in applying for a visa for Australia! And what sort of root they took.

It's just that I've paid for a visa assessment through a immigration group in the uk, witch told me what visas I can apply for with my Skills and Qualifications.

And to go to the next stage they are wanting administration fees witch are extortionate and then the cost for the visa on top of that!

So I'm just needing a bit of advice if possible. Any help is appreciated!

Mate it's very dependent on your personal qualifications and situation. Most Brits come to Australia on skilled independent or skilled sponsored (state or employer sponsored).
Look at Australian immigration website, the governmental website is very straightforward and clear.

Thanks mate. Ive been told they are looking for my skill set as its on the high skill list. I guess it's more of timescales for those 2 visa's you mentioned. Do you know roughly how long from lodging the application those visa's take for the Brits with high skills?

Check out the aus immigration site - you can check what your visa options are there. I am on the skilled list but decided to go for a partner visa as that was the real reason for the move. I did it in the uk without using an agent, it's just a matter of filling in the forms and providing the evidence - generally all the info you need is on the immi site and if you get stuck you can call the embassy. They won't give you a firm answer but will speak in general terms.
Good luck!

Timeline depending for State sponsored circa 7- 8 months (faster if you have a clear record and all your papers preloaded including PCC and Meds. Have a stable record with HMRevenue services and etc. Slower if you used public funds or need further investigation (infringements etc)).
Independent 8-12 month depending on above.

By applying directly to Department of Immigration and Citizenship you will not need to pay any admin fees. The Visa fee you are paying is essentially an admin fee taken by DIAC.
