Exclamation Working Holiday while waiting for a PMV???

Hey guys I really need some help here.
Since the department is completely backlogged right now and the waiting times have been extended from 5 months to 10 or more, I called the embassy and was told that I could wait out the processing time in Australia as long as I am there on a work and holiday visa and as long as I leave during the last stages of the processing. It seems a little risky though because if I don't leave Australia when I am supposed to they will not approve my perspective marriage visa. Has anyone else done this? Please let me know I really want to be with my fiance in Australia but I also don't ant to jeopardize my perspective marriage visa. Will the department let me know when I have to leave? Please help!

Quite a few people have gone to Australia while the visa is processing and the case officers just let them know when the visa is ready to finalise. They then go to NZ/Bali/Thailand etc for a few days and then come back in on their 300/309/100.

Great! Thanks Mish! I talked to several agents at the embassy in Washington and they made it sound very risky, which I suppose is their job. Is there an average time for the final processing? I'd imagine it's around 1-3 weeks?

Most go offshore for about 5 days.

That's awesome! A lot less time than the embassy warned me of. This is great news! I'm so excited. It's been hellish being away from my fiance, I miss him terribly. Is it very likely that an American citizen will have to do medical examinations for a work and holiday visa? Sorry for all the questions

Sorry I am not 100% but I believe they do but are different to the partner visa medicals. If you have done your partner visa medicals I would think they would accept them.

You seem to be planning to proceed in a way that is far from optimal.

May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for advice about a better strategy?
