Sponsoring company as supporting witness?

Hello,

When it comes to having Australians or PR's be a supporting witness, does anyone know if the owner of the company doing the sponsoring can be a witness?
I've asked the sponsoring company this a while back but they've never been able to say, but it was suggested probably not. This is for a 457 by the way. Aside from this particular person, we will otherwise be limited to non-Australian witness statements as discussed on other threads.

Thank you

It depends on what visa you are applying for, and what you need the witness for.

Sorry, forgot to mention it's to do with the witness to our de-facto relationship. It's for a 457 visa. Thanks.

If you are looking to who can fill and sign a Form 888 to attest to your relationship, this can be any Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. So it can be your sponsor for a 457.

Ok Thanks Jeremy. That's what I thought as I hadn't come across anything saying anything to the contrary. Shame the company have still not gotten back to me about this, as originally I asked if they'd be willing to do it assuming it was ok. Thanks again.
