Visa Granted!!!!

Ooo, after emailing immigration the other day asking whether it is possible to get a bridging visa b for six months they phoned my partner today and said she hasn't granted the bridging visa b (not that I had applied for one) but she has granted my defacto visa!! I am sooooooooo happy and sooooo excited!! Thank you everyone for your help and advice on here, this is a great resource for all of us going through this visa process!! Good luck everyone who is still waiting. Hang in there!!

Wait time - 7 months and 10 days (I applied on the 24th June at the Melbourne office, my application was front loaded with medical, police checks etc!)

Congratulations! That's great news after such a long wait...Can I ask you, did they require any more info to process the visa? Or was it just sitting there ready to be granted for 7 months?? I'm asking because I'll be frontloading everything too and hope to get a 'quicker' process...

Nope, didn't ask for anything else... I was expecting the full 12 month wait, which is why I emailed about the BVB because my partner needed to go home in March and I was worried I wouldn't have the visa by then... My guess is, my application was sat around waiting, and when I sent the enquiry about the 6 month thing, they looked at my application and therefore granted the 820 instead of a BVB...

Same thing for us.. 4 months in we requested student visa to be cancelled so we could apply for bridging visa e an in te end I think it was easier for them to just approve the 820 which we got in 5.5 months.
