Exclamation FYI BVB, Briding B Visa applications

I tried to apply for my BVB at my location immigration office in Canberra and I was notified that they DO NOT accept these applications anymore. They have to be sent to the Visa main office in Brisbane by mail. They must be sent 2 weeks before intended travel date excluding post time.

Conclusion:
No online submission
No local submissions

Must be mailed to Brisbane office.- Reason they want more control over visas.

Hi Simply!
Thanks for posting this info - it really is this type of post that has helped me on this forum! That's frustrating about having to mail it to Brisbane now! I suppose everyone is just going to have to check their individual offices because I went to apply for my Bvb yesterday in Perth and they're still accepting applications in person there!

Can someone confirm this? I went to the website and it says all immigration locations can process this type of visa. I am unable to find the number to Canberra to call and confirm again.

I applied for mine in February at the Canberra office. They said to put it in the mail box though not in person.. Might have changed since

I confirmed by calling the 13 number. They said canberra office feeds into brisbane. I am not sure about other states. You will need to call to confirm.

I am mailing mine tomorrow with normal mail, no need for registered since I have 1 month before travel.

Also they do not accept debit cards, must be credit or mail orders.

I mailed my BVB to brisbane from ACT July 10. How long do you think it will take for them to receive and process? Should I try and call?

BVB is for Aug 10- Sept 15

You would normally send any bridging visa application to the processing centre that is processing your substantive visa application.

You can no longer attach bridging visa applications to your online application or send them by email.

Yes I mailed mine in on July 10th, was wondering how long it would take to process because I have not heard from them yet. I will call the 13 # later this week to see if they have an update. I fly in 2.5 weeks

I believe they typically grant them about 2 weeks before your trip, so you should be hearing soon.

We got one granted yesterday within one day of DIBP receiving the application and almost 2 months before the applicant will be going overseas.
