PMV Granted - Immigation the good, bad and funny

Hi All

My fiance and I had our PMV approved yesterday which was great.
We submitted our application early Nov 2011, had a case officer and details of the medical within two weeks and now its all done and dusted

Our experience was pretty smooth sailing, the only thing we left out by accident was a Polish police cert which we had to send in as we only put in the translated one in English.

My finace had no phone interview, nothing. I emailed our officer in Jan to let them know I had moved and did they want updated details to which they replied 'thanks for the update I hope to have your application approved by end of Feb'. I took that as, well if you are not worried then Im not, so I didnt send anything.

Then yesterday I thought I would send a polite email to ask if they had any idea as to a due date for my fiance, within three or so hours my fiance calls me to say the visa has been approved. Im not sure if our officer had forgotten about us and I jogged their memory to email us or whether it was coincidence. Either way makes you wonder what goes on there.

The only thing we suggest is that if you have any queries make sure to email your officer so its in writing. My fiance was not told about an online form he was suppose to complete for the medical therefore when at the doctors they had to log him onto their computer to complete it. Lucky it was a nice doctor. Also while at that appt they realised that our officer had written down my fiances passport number incorrectly. This is not something you want stuffed up when you are about to enter into another country. We made sure to email our officer this so we had it in writing incase we had any problems further down the track. They are on the ball in London (not!) because when they replied it didnt even relate to what my fiance wrote.

One last thing, although we were told that our visa would hopefully be approved end of Feb you just never know what will happen. Note though, once your visa is actually approved it kicks off straight away and ends nine months from that date. My fiance does have until August to be in Oz but there is no heads up as such like - 'your visa is approved but you cant enter Australia until (e.g) April and no later then (e.g) August etc. So unless you are organised and ready to fly, the time is ticking on your visa.

Hence my fiance is now running around like a mad man to pack and farewell everyone.

On a nice note our officer did tell my fiance to have fun in Australia

Gerrywins and whiterhino like this.
