Sponsor's finances.

Hi all,

I am sponsoring my American husband to come to Australia. I'm living here at the moment (been back since last August) and he is still in America. I work full-time and he also works full-time. My question is, is there a minimum salary requirement to meet as a sponsor? When my husband was sponsoring me to live in America, he had to earn over the US poverty line - at the time (2007), for a two person household the poverty line was $17,500 a year. Does Australia have a similar requirement? It doesn't say so in the booklet.
