Bridging Visa??

Hi there,

I am currently in the process of compiling and hopefully lodging soon my defacto subclass 820 visa with my Australian partner. We are lodging the application onshore in Australia, and my current ETA 3month visa expires in May. Does anyone know what happens when my visa expires and we have lodged the visa? I understand I just go onto a bridging visa which lasts until a receive a response regarding my defacto visa from immigration, any more info on this? Am I able to travel this visa?

Any help on this matter would be greatly received, this is all so stressful.

Hi , you will receive a bridging visa the day your visa expires. I had to call immigration to double check cause I was freaking out about it. LOL!!The bridging visa will have the same conditions as the visitor visa. You can apply for work rights . I did. I know I cannot travel on my visa. But you can apply to be granted a travel condition. They have a few different bridging visas..
Any ?? you can call immigration and ask them.. I did and they were very helpful. More so then my immigration lawyer...
Good luck !!!!!!!
