You will need to check with Immigration as to whether or not you are on a bridging visa. However usually the bridging visa is only issued once your current visa has expired. Contact Immigration.

Thx missmullen

Now I know what's happened
They sent me both a Receipt and an Acknowledgement Letter but somehow the Ack letter didn't appear on my laptop but my phone lol

So I forward that eMail to myself using my phone and got 2 attachments.

I used that letter to quit school this Wednesday with the student agency that I've been contacting with. They said my student visa will be cancelled next week ....so slow

Anyway, after everything is sorted I will post my situation in details for a case study

Student ---> De facto (Using Relationship Cert.)

Did you also notify DIAC that you have voluntarily cancelled your student visa?

So you already have an application for defacto visa in progress??

Did they explain to you that you will be put on bridging visa e with no work or travel rights?

Also bear in mind that although the student agency may cancel the visa quickly it can take a few weeks for DIAC to officially cancel it. For us it took months and we got the spouse visa before they even cancelled the student visa.

If you haven't done so already I would speak to a student visa compliance officer at DIAC to find out what your conditions are if it takes them a few weeks to cancel your visa.

At first he told me that I will be granted BVE but once I lodged the application I got a BVA and then I use that letter to cancel my student visa voluntary.
My course just finished and everything is all good at school.

:-/

Will my BVA change to BVE?

BVA is only valid of you stay on your student visa until it expires. If you cancel the current visa you are on you get BVE because you have cancelled it before it has naturally expired.

What is the expiry date of your student visa?
