Exclamation Partner visa- Centrelink worries and Tax File Number Question

hey all,
My question is a bit of a long one, so thank you in advance,
background - we are a same sex couple, engaged, together for over a year an a half now.
we will be applying for an offshore DE facto partner visa in a month now.
early may last year I arrived to Sydney, on a 6 month tourist visa to visit my partner and try out the whole living together and living in OZ thing, so we were quite prepared, we opened up a joint bank account, put my name on the utility bills, got our relationship registered with NSW BDM, and notified centerlink (my partner receives Austudy)
after 6 months my tourist visa was expiring, so I went back, my partner who is a student stayed in Sydney, 3 months later she came to visit me for 3 weeks, and we all stayed at my mothers house (were I live at the moment), and we got engaged (yay!) now, another 3 munts later, my partner will be coming to another visit and we will apply for the offshore visa together.
2 questions-
1. a monht ago centerlink have requested for me to file for a tax file number, because my partner is on Austudy and works only 2 days a week (uni is intense), I will have it done in the next weeks, is it a good thing for us? I mean, as far as the state recognizing us as a couple in a marriage like relationship? or should I be worried? I am transferring money to our bank account in OZ every month, it's not much but its 30-60% of my monthly income, and we used the money for her tickets to come visit, for the dogs (they were sick etc) to bay a new mattress and to pay for emergency stuff around the house, so technically, I am supporting her in a small way, will that be a problem with canterlink? its a lot of money to me, but it's not substantial enough so that she will no longer need Austudy .

2. when I was in OZ we went to centerlink to declare that -A: her status is changed and she is no longer single and has a "Live in" partner, B- that I am on a tourist visa, and therefore do not generate any income at the moment, we wanted to be as clear and honest as possible, and we knew that transparency is very important when dealing with them.
so one of the clerks says wee need to file section 24, we had no idea what it is, we fill out the paper work and go about our business.

a week later we receive a letter from centerlink saying our request for assistance wad refused! we freak out, call them and explain that we did not wish to claim ANY assistance, that what my partner is receiving + her part time job+ my savings are sufficient, and that we were not asking for anything, just notifying them she had a change in her status.
so they say ok, in that case, just disregard the letter, no harm done here, so we do.

but I worry that having this on the record might harm our partner visa somehow, and considering maybe to right a statement about this incident in our visa paper work, everyone tells me it's fine, and to leave well enough alone, but I just don't know, do they even check those kind of records if we did not actually receive any founds from the state?
Your thoughts and experiences will be very much appreciated, thank you!
