10.000 requirment

Im in the early stages of organising the prospective marriage visa for my filippino girlfriend, her Aunts husbands brother also married using PMV but they wouldnt grant the visa unless he had a minimum of 10'000 in his bank acc. Im curious to hear of any similar requirments from anyone, he had to borrow the money from a friend until after the visa was granted then gave it back. Im thinking perhaps his financial situation wasn't great or he had a low income? There's nothing on immigrations website about needing a big chunk of money, they ask for proof of income only & suggest in your history letter you talk about your ability to support your partner financialy.

For Family Sponsored Tourist visa, the immigration officer may ask for $5000 to $10,000 sponsorship bond. We're also worried that they might apply the same for PMV or partner's visa. Nevertheless, we still lodged our partners visa (309) application and just try to save as much money while awaiting decision. The sponsorship bond is upon the Case Officer's discretion, so it's better to be prepared.

Our application was lodged last week at the Australian Embassy in Seoul, S. Korea.
