Question Custody Question

Hello,
A good family friend of mine and my wife is wanting give us custody of their child. We are happy to do this. They are currently not in Australia
What are the implications in bringing someone elses child back to Australia?
Do we just need some sort of custody declaration form?

Thank you

I don't understand, is this child yours by birth or marriage? If not, who are the legal parents of this child? Are you and your wife Australian PR or citizens?

Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 36. Adopting Children From Overseas
Some information here. Private adoptions do not seem possible unless you are living overseas for 12 months +.
You need to talk with a lawyer, not this forum. You need professional advice if you are planning to adopt a child. A form will not cut it it is a long and expensive process.
