Hi Shinta,

Same domain, I am a software Tester with 6+ years of experience and I am applying under the Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190).
My ANZSCO code is 261314.
I have completed collecting the documents required for my skill assessment by ACS and should be sending my application tomorrow.
Should ACS grant me a positive assessment, I would then be taking my IELTS and filing me EOI.

I see. For what state? Right now, you're sending to ACS before DIAC? How's ACS's result? is it hard?

I have just begun the process, but let me break it down for you from what I understand.

The first step is to get your skills assessed from ACS. If ACS assessment is positive then the second step would be to take an IELTS with an overall of minimum 7 and 7 in each of the individual sections.

I think after this I will have to check with my consultant as to what would be the next step but I am guessing that I would by applying to provinces requesting nomination.

Once I get a nomination I would then file my EOI and wait for an invitation to apply.
And finally apply for the VISA.

ACS is not hard or easy, its an assessing body that you need to send your professional documents to (along with a few other documents) and pay them to certify if your skills are suitable or not.

Actually this is what the DIAC website says
Quote:
To be able to lodge a valid application for this visa you need to first submit an Expression of Interest through SkillSelect. You can do this in or outside Australia.

If you are nominated by a state or territory and meet the basic requirements for this visa, you will then receive an invitation to apply.
Basic requirements

There are basic requirements you must meet to apply for this visa. You must:

be invited to apply
be younger than 50 years of age when you are invited to apply
nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant skilled occupation list
have your skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for your nominated occupation
have at least competent English
score at least 60 on the points test
meet the health and character requirements.
So I was wrong, I do not need a nomination first. After a favorable ACS and IELTS I can directly file my EOI.
