Question What next...?

Hi all,

My husband sent his visa application (subclass 309) off on July 3rd. They have received the package and processed the payment. Do they send/email a number or something like it to track the progress of the application? If so, where can we go to check the progress? I know it's only been about 2.5 weeks, but the silence is a bit unnerving... How long from this point does it usually take for them to make any kind of contact? Thanks...

The silence and no contact is just part of the process. We submitted our application to Ottawa and it was received April 4th, 2012. They did supply a reference number but that is only so they are able to find your application if you make contact or add additional documents. There is no way to track the actual progress.

At this stage going on 4 months we haven't heard anything except the first acknowledgment and request for medicals and police check which were also received by them in April. So they have had all of our doc for at least 3 months and no contact but still within the 5 month processing time. Hang in there it's a long wait but we all go through it and it will be worth it in the end.

We signed up for email contact and received our acknowledgment on April 5th, nothing since then.

Hmm... Well, we haven't received a reference number or anything to state that they have it. The only reason I know that they got it is because I saw the payment pending on my credit card. We've been stalking hubby's email, but nothing yet. I hope that's normal (the lack of action, not the stalking, lol).

As what I've experienced, it took 10 business days for the Australian Embassy in Manila, Philippines to send me an acknowledgement e-mail providing me with reference number and some important notes. The courier did however send me a text after 3 days telling me that they have successfully delivered my documents to the embassy...

Ah, okay... 10 working days... It's only been about 8 working days at the moment. Is that standard for all offices? We filed at the Washington DC office, USA....

i'm not sure if it's true to all offices... i may have remembered reading it somewhere in the australian embassy website in Manila that it takes 7-10 business days for the department to send an acknowledgement e-mail..

I also applied at the Washington office in May ... and like you, realized they ran the payment when I looked at my credit card statement about a week later. I also received an email from them, acknowledging receipt / payment and stating it was now officially 'in process' ....this came about 2.5 weeks after I lodged it.
I would assume you'll be getting a similar confirmation email...probably any time now.
But - be prepared...after that - it's pretty much silent on their end. And the waiting game feels never ending!
