I'll answer my original question. Our completed application for the 820/801 was literally the same as the subclass 300, with updated info and the all important marriage cert. We did not have to resubmit a new medical or character check. It certainly was a lot quicker preparing the app. this time around.
1 week is fantastic! You must have been elated. Did you submit an AFP clearance for the 820 as well?

No. It did not apply to us.

Another relevant question: My wife had her passport amended to show her married last name.

Do we need to inform Immi. about this change?

Also, when we travel abroad, given that her passport does not have to be renewed for some time, and that it still shows her maiden name on the first page and married name on the second page:

1. Do we have to always carry a certified copy of our marriage certificate.

2. What name does she travel under when booking tickets?

Your friends are looking at the former PMV holder charge (it is $1260). You are a current PMV holder, so it's $995. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/990i0613.pdf

Thank you collegeGirl!

One more thing, Do I need to take medical.? I got one on my Pmv and I read on some pages not required unless Immigration ask to do so..I'm just concern about my medical assessment as it going to be one year next month. Or Do I need to take it again for us to lodge complete application. Thank you,,,,,

I just applied last Friday and got approved yesterday, and to answer your question I did not pass any medical certificate.

MsSeptember - I'd wait and see if they ask for it. They often don't.
