Hi All,

I need your valuable suggestions for the determination of Assessment group for ACS assessment application.

I am Micky Arora from New Delhi, India. In the year 2009, I had completed my Bachelors of Technology in the trade Electronics and Communication and I am working with a leading software company as a software engineer.

I am bit confused with the requirements mentioned for the skill assessment and would request you to clarify my doubts. Below I've stated my life and work instances in the sections A and B.

So, My Questions are:

A. DOUBT IN ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

I did my B.Tech in Electronics and Communication. I am working in Software Testing field in Telecommunication domain in Software Company. My work experience in the current organisation is 3 years after completing studies.

1. To which category does my application belongs? Does it belongs to Group A or Group B. (Subjects studied have been mentioned below)?

2. And how much relevant experience is required for clearing the assessment?

3. Can I state my application belongs to category with experience 3 years relevant with my degree?

I’ve mentioned my subjects below that I cleared during my B.Tech:

Semester

1. Information Technology,

2. Chemistry,

3. Professional Communication

4. Mathematics-I

5. Mechanical Engineer

B. Total Work Experience ?

I have worked part time/ full time side by side with B.Tech. I was employed by a small company for in-house software development and testing. The work I did was around 25 hrs/week including weekends, for which I was paid in cash. I took the break in my job 3 times for 2 months each for studying and giving exams and later joined back the work.

So, my questions are:

1. Will my work experience be taken into account for ACS assessment during my study period?

2. Do I need to show any proofs for cash salary apart from experience letter, joining and relieving letter?

3. Do I have to mention in my application about the breaks taken for studies during the job? Does it affects/impacts on the total work experience?

I will be highly obliged if I get to know the answers of my questions as lot of things depend on it .

Thanks

Hi,

I am also in a similar situation and researching on this topic. Here are my suggestions but I could be wrong.

First of all, you have a different degree and work experience so, you need to check out the RPL (Recognize Prior Learning) procedure of ACS.

Secondly, carefully go through all the professions and select those which are closely related to your criteria. After that, check which states are offering those professions. Then, you can make a better decision.

Thirdly, I have also been paid in cash during my first job so, I think there are alternatives to proof employment. I'll visit my agent and discuss this with him.

To conclude, I would suggest you to talk to some agent. Most of them offer free initial assessment so that will give you a good idea of your chances.

Hi Micky,
I'm not sure if the ACS rules have changed since July 2012 & that you've got answer to your question yet, but here's my personal experience:

I'm BE E& TC from Pune University.
Working as Software Engineer since more than 3 years.
I was not sure of whether I would clear ACS or not & applied for it anyway.

I was REJECTED & asked to reapply after I complete 4 years.
I would suggest you to wait for completing 4 years & not fall prey to agents' claims.

Further, regarding your work experience during BE - If the company you worked for is willing to provide full time work experience certificate for the duration you worked for I think it's worth a shot as ACS considers 20hrs/week full time work ex.

Just 2 precautions:
1. Training period is not considered in work ex.
2. Do mention the working hours per week while applying.

Cheers!!!
