820 AFP check question

Hello!
I have been trawling this forum for months gaining information! But have found a question I am not sure the answer to, so hoping someone can help. I am just about to apply for my 820 partner visa, and was wondering about the police check, according to the partner visa booklet I need to provide a police check for every country I have lived in for more than 12 months, so have got my uk check done, however when I come to apply I will have been in Australia for 51 weeks, I just wondered if I would need to provide an Australian police check as well? or do I automatically need one because I am applying onshore?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Rhian

Hi there,

You don't need a AFP check if you have not been in Australia over 12 months. However since you are approaching this I would suggest you include one. This could potentially speed up your application, I personally did NOT include one. I have only been in Australia three months and submitted my application at the end of last month.

I hope this helps

Hello,
Wait until you reach 52 weeks. Then you can obtain National Police Check from AFP. You have to be in Australia for a year to obtain police check. Then you can include it in your application, which you will need.

From what I understand it is an accumulation of your time also. So if you have been in Australia 51 weeks now but you were here another time for 3 weeks then it knocks you over into the year category.

They will definitely ask you for a police check, so you might as well include it your application.
