required to do medicals even though we shouldn't? 600 visa

Hi all,
My husband from Russia applied for a visitor visa for 5 months, and it has automatically stated that he needs to do an exam and chest x-ray. Fine to do that but if we do it now we'll need to repeat it later for the partner visa (Moscow processing times are quite slow so will probably expire before it is processed) and also may slow down visa processing time.

We're confused as to why he needs to do it though? His stay was put as 5 months and 2 weeks, and it states that medicals are only needed if the stay is over six months. Is this a mistake? Should we contact the embassy? We were told he wouldn't need to do it if his stay was under six months by an agent, also.

They only issue tourist visas as 3 months, 6 months or 12 months so even though you only want 5 months 2 weeks they will need to issue you a 6 month visa. So your agent is right you don't need it for less than 6 months but that only leaves you a 3 month option

I guess I assumed that, but it's strangely worded on the border website. If they only calculate per 3, 6 and 12 months then shouldn't they just say that on the website? "3 month visa = no health assessment required. 6 and 12 = health assessment required"

Thanks for your help, I guess we won't bother calling the embassy
