Update New Passport to Immi Office

Hi All,

I have Subclass 189 PR and I had to renew my passport recently, how do I update my New passport Number to the PR so that I have no issues while travelling?
I saw some posts which say that I need to fill Form 929 and submit it in the VFS office close by along with the copy of new passport:
1. Is that the only thing that is expected from my end?
2. How will I know if my new passport is updated to my PR?

Hi,

Yes, complete and submit form 929. Check whether the change has been acknowledged by logging on to your VEVO account. Give the DIBP ample time to make the change because it can take several days, and they may not always get it right the first time. I updated my passport details because I got married and was issued a new one. When I checked VEVO, DIBP got the new passport number right but still used my maiden name. So I had to inform them about the mistake and had to wait again.

Thanks a lot for quick reply. I also think it should be same procedure for Spouse and Kids.

Thanks a lot again.

I updated my information by visiting the immigration office with my old and new passport. They entered the information while I waited and I believe it appeared in VEVO immediately after -- this was a few years ago now, so maybe they don't offer the in-person option anymore, but worth a shot?

Hi Thanks for your quick replies which helped me complete the activity

I have gone through the process and I want to share my experience and process so that others are benefited out of it.

- I filled the form 929 and walked into the VFS office in INDIA
- I also took Copies of New passports + New passports + Old Passports

I was very well received by the VFS office and they verified my documents and asked me to pay the amount (Rs. 690 / Applicant).
Post payment I went to the counter, where they attested Copies and also took copies of Old Passport (Key Pages Along with Bio-Metric Pages). They charged me for making copies and attesting. (Very nominal fees)

They asked me if I wanted SMS facility on the progress of the application and for which I was charged Rs. 90.

The acknowledgement also mentioned that there will NOT be any update upon New passport Number update, but I get the SMS on the progress of my application. The activity might be completed within couple of weeks.

It took me 30 min to complete all the activities.

Note - all the payments to be done CASH, so carry cash when going for this process.

Hope this will help all in INDIA atleast.
