Hi Mark,

Hope this message finds you in good health.

I have received the invitation and I am good to move ahead. I have competed the form online. I had 2 questions, which I will request you to assist me on.
1. Am I required to submit the medical and police clearance certificate right after making the paymnt and submitting or will it be asked at a later time.

2. How is the experience calculated. I have a skilled assessment which has identified my occupation to the nominated occupation and says that my skilled experience is from march 2013. I have close to 4 yrs of experience but skilled will be close to 2. So how does dibp look at experience.

Any assistance in the above queries will be of great help.

1. You don't need to submit the medical/police checks right away if you'd prefer to wait to be requested by your CO. The advantage of waiting is that you have longer to enter Australia, since the initial entry date is usually 12 months from the date the police/medical checks (whichever is earlier) are completed. It may delay the processing a bit while they wait for you to complete them though, so keep that in mind.

2. Experience is calculated from the date shown on the skills assessment. So if the assessment says your employment after March 2013 is suitable for your occupation, then you can claim April 2013 onwards (which would not be eligible for points if it's overseas). If you have claimed an earlier date on your EOI and got points for it, you should let this invitation expire or you run the risk of your visa being refused.
