Question biometrics again?

Quick question.
We have applied for partner visa 309/100 and we have just had biometrics request sent through. We did biometrics for a visitors visa 600 a few months back, do we need to do biometrics again or is this just a generic email?

I tried googling but couldnt find a definitive answer

hi there,
I am guessing that there is a 3 month limit on them.
my partner went and got his done before we submitted a pmv application. he was told that he had 3 months to submit the application.
maybe it applies all round?
best people to ask is the consulate that sent the request. .
