Bachelors in Electronics & Communication

Hi All,

This is my first post and I would very much appreciate your help on this.

Here is my question:

I completed my Bachelors in Electronics & Communication in India from 2006 to 2010.

My overall experience in IT as a software engineer is 5.4 years which includes 16 months in Australia.

I am to apply for PR(Visa 189).
Please advise if there will any point deduction in skill assessment considering the fact that my bachelor's was not in IT.

Regards
Abhijeet

Your skill assessment will state when you were deemed skilled. The date you are deemed skilled will determine how many points you get for work experience as points will only be awarded after for work done after you are deemed skilled.

It is easy enough to find out how work experience is required as there is a document on the ACS web site with all that information. If you are still confused I suggest that you consult with a reliable migration who handles these cases on a daily basis.

Hi Abhijeet,

Based on my experience with ACS & Indian Degree, your case will come under RPL. For RPL, you must have minimum 6 years experience. After 6 years, your experience is considered skilled.

I have done few cases, where ACS deducted 4 years not 6 years.

On a safer side, I tell my clients, post 6 years experience will be counted as skilled one.
