Notice of Intention to Marry - subclass 300

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. Do I need a NOIM (Notice of Intention to Marry) on lodgement or can it be attached later?

I am currently helping my fiance with a 300 Prospective Marriage visa, she is offshore.

Any help is appreciated!

We lodged our NOIM in October, but applied in June.

We waited till we were both in Aus to do it.
They say its best to do it with the application, but it didn't hurt ours.

Visa Route: 600/300/600/820/801 PMV to PR 44 months.

Thank you for sharing your experience JandE. I hope others can say if this is the case for everyone.

Hi, we had the NOIM ready at the time of the lodging of our PMV. But I guess it's OK to attach it at a later date. The CO usually asks for it if it's not in there by the time they go over your application, but don't rely on them emailing you for that. Just get it ready and attach it in the first few months to be sure.

PMV Applied: September 30, 2015
Medical & Police: November 4, 2015
PMV Granted: March 16, 2016

820 Applied: August 25, 2016
820 Granted: November 18, 2016

801 Applied: July 26, 2018
801 Granted: July 31, 2019

In my opinion, I think it is best to have all your paperwork done before you apply. That way, you know it is all done and you won't have to think about it again until the CO asks for your background check and medical.

The NOIM can be completed with only one person. The marriage celebrant will ask to see your fiance's paperwork once they arrive in Australia. The date and place you put on the NOIM doesn't matter at all, because CO's know that is takes time for PMVs to be approved. If a marriage celebrant says otherwise, then find someone else who actually knows what they are talking about.

We submitted ours maybe a month and a half after applying. My fiancÚ works FIFO in Oz so it was difficult to get the appointment with his schedule, but we got it done eventually. No word from a CO and applied in Dec.
