How to prove separation for 189 visa

I got married before I came to Australia (573 student visa) and I lodged the marriage certificate during the visa application.

Afterwards, we got some problems and haven't contacted for more than 1 year (since Oct 2014)

Now is the time for me to apply for PR and I realize that the relationship status is a big problem -- basically I cannot divorce now because I have some financial disputes with my wife -- so it may take a long time to go

Here are some methods I can do from my part, but I am not sure whether they are enough or not

1. Statutory declaration
2. Mobile Phone call history -- no contact with the other
3. Email -- no email after a certain period
4. She hasn't come to Australia after I arrive here and I haven't been back to my own country
5. Confirm from one of my friends who traveled with both of us together before -- I don't tell my marriage crisis to many people except few

yeah i have asked several agents and they said proving to be separated is not a big issue -- but I am not sure whether this is the real case.

one thing they suggest to do is to get a statutory declaration.

and then they suggest me changing my relationship status now to separation (i am still under 573 student visa) -- then the status will be in line in the future when i apply for 189

Does it make sense?

If you are not going to believe the advise of professional registered migration agents, would you believe the advice of people who are not professional people who don't work in the Industry.

i do not have the sense --- just want to see whether people here have similar experience and what their situation is and how to address to problem

Definitely, I think the advice from those agents is valuable -- at least make sense
