hello
I am new to this forum, I am an aussie girl living in england with my english man, I have british passport and have been living here for 15 months.
We want to move back to Aus so Craig has applied for a partner visa
we have been told the wait is at least 8-9 months, which is really scary.
He has just sent off his criminal check and has his medical in 10 days time
I have to be back to start uni in march and he has been offered a job in march if he gets the visa, but at this stage it looks like I will be going before him
I would love any advice about other people who have applied with the high commission in London, if anyone was granted quickly?
thank you
peace xx

Hi Nurse87,

The timelines vary for everyone...
Your best bet is to make your application as strong as you can, make sure you hand in all the required documents and forms, add as much evidence as you can...also if you can get the job offer in writing you can add this too and mention it in a cover letter that there is job offer for him and you need to be back for uni and you would appreciate to not be sepertated...

All the best for you!

thank you dingo144
we are now in the process of getting his medical and police check done, his job offer is from a family friend and they want him to start in feb next year, however in a letter from our c/o she stated that employment is not a compassionate circumstance to approve an application sooner. Im just crossing fingers and toes that we will be able to go home together!

hey nurse87,
just wandering if you are living in the UK, have you been able to make an appointment for your partner to get his medicals done, without having already handed in your application and receiving a reference number to give to the doctors to make an appoinment??

cheers

Hi Sarah
Im afraid Im dont know if you can book an appt before being requested to book one by your c/o, I can imagine it may be possible for them to do the medical then hand over the info for your application, however we didnt think craig would need a complete medical which is why we didnt research it before applying. I wish we had now! please let me know if you find the answer

hey,
yeah we weren't sure either. we thought that you could book a medical test before you had handed in your app, then have the medical ready to go once you are ready to hand it in.

but then my partner tried calling the doctors to book, and they said he needed his reference number from immi, that he'd get once they had received his app.

so looks like we'll have to wait, until we get the reference number then make the Drs appointment to get the meds sent to immi asap, to hopefully speed things up!

annoying though because ive read on here that some people get to do there medicals before they hand in the app.
we're applying in London, so maybe its different here

yes its so annoying right!? and on our letter from the c/o it says dont book medical till after january because the wait for visas is 8-9months but i am going to book it for him anyway because the med is valid for 12 months. bless him he would be so stuck without me doing this all for him! haha

Hi Nurse 87,
Just wondering how you are getting on with things?
We are in the same situation now... I am an Aussie and have just married my English husband... We want to go back to Oz next year...
Did you use an agent?
