Need help on partner 309 pls!!

Hello dears,
I am in desperate need of advice. I have applied for 309 in Aug 2015 (Indian passport holder). It has been 7 months.Currently in Australia on tourist visa with my wife and one month old baby. I heard that, to consider 309 visa and to allocate case officer, I have to be in India. Is this true? should I have to go back to India for fast processing ?
or will I get any information from the case officer when to leave country in order to get my visa processed?
Please give your valuable suggestions guys!

Being in Australia shouldn't effect the processing times. They will notify you if you are in Australia when they are ready to make a decision on the visa.

You should have notified them of your travel plans and how long you intend to stay in Aus for, this is a must, then if they are ready to process they will notify you to leave.

I seem to remember India handles 309 applicants being in Australia differently than some other countries... you may want to send a PM to Becky26 and ask her, she may know. Or maybe she'll see this thread.
