Citizenship after bridging visa

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone knows.. I have been in Australia since 2011, 2 yrs working holiday visa then applied for a partner visa, but we broke up,visa got cancelled and I appealed the desicion..so have been on a bridging A since 2014 waiting for the answer from MRT.
Since I have lawfully lived in Australia 4 years can I apply for citizenship? Or does the visa refusal make it difficult?

Thanks for any help

I'm afraid you can't. You have to have spent 4 or more years in Australia, but you must have been a permanent resident for at least the last year, which doesn't apply to you yet. It doesn't matter how long you're in Australia on a bridging visa - you can never become a citizen if you aren't a permanent resident first.
