820- We got married since applying - Update Change of Circumstances

Hello everybody!
We applied for my 820 in September 2015 and got married on March 20 of this year. When we applied last year we were already engaged and stated in the documents we were planing a wedding in Australia for March 2016 and another wedding in Germany for later in the year. The Australian March has happened and we are busy planning the German wedding for later in the year.

Our application status is still only "application received", ie we don't have a case officer yet who we could update. I understand however that I can update the department by clicking the "Change in Circumstances" button.
I would think we should update the DIAC about this change, my husband (a lawyer) thinks we can't add new evidence that has happened since we lodged the application and the Change in Circumstances is only for couples breaking up or similar.

Does anybody know whether this kind of supporting information as well as the marriage certificate should be supplied to the DIAC?

Thank you so much for any help in advance!

Examples of things you need to tell us include:
- serious illness or a death in your family
- your relationship status (married, divorced, entered a de facto relationship)

You can definitely keep adding documents to your file. In fact we were just contacted by DIBP with a request for recent documents proving our relationship still exists, we lodged 9.5 months ago.

We've been adding things as we go too, airline tickets, photos of our wedding, bank statements etc. And now we are gathering even more evidence to add to our file.

We did the same, for the PMV, still lodging things until about 3 months before the visa grant.
