Rejected FBI fingerproints

Just wondering if anyone has run into this before...

I've worked in healthcare for nearly 10 years and use lots of alcohol on my hands... which I believe is why my fingerprints are nearly non-existent. I've submitted 3 copies of ink fingerprints to the FBI and they're all rejected. I've tried to do livescan (digital fingerprinting - what US channellers use) in the past and the machine accepted all fingers except my tiny pinky fingers. We tried for nearly 30 minutes and it would not take. I may have to resort to flying to Sydney to try the livescan machines there but... just curious of worst case scenario...

What happens if my fingerprints keep getting rejected?!
