No we are still in Wisconsin. We paid $390 for the medical, the Dr we saw wasn't an Australian just an approved panel doctor, you confused me when you asked about Australian Drs. Do your FBI check ASAP too, it can take 6 weeks to get it back.

Heading for Oz in January on an ETA rather than wait here alone, since my husband goes back in January.

The FBI check was sent last week,so our deadline of sending the application is the second week of January so hopefully its all set by then. Does the DR give you forms to add to your application right there and then? how was it,weird? did he ask different questions? does he need to do paperwork when you arent around and send stuff to the embassy behind your back without you knowing or do you know exactly what the embassy is going to see?

You need to bring the forms with you medical forms can be downloaded from the links below:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/26.pdf
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/160.pdf

You also need to bring two passport photos.

They send the forms direct to Washington and you don't hear a thing, the Doctor said all seemed fine but you don't know for sure until immigration says so. They do a chest xray and blood tests and physical examination.

You do realize that the application fee is set to go up from the first of January next year, so if I was you I would apply now and get the ball rolling, then when they ask for the medical and PC they won't be long off. I heard the fee may rise by $1000 next year but don't quote me on that, we didn't realize the fee was going up until after we applied but that is why there is a flood of applications right now and it is first come first served so you will do better sending the application now rather than waiting to front load it.

Government announces latest Australian visa fee increase

Here is one link that I found that mentions it.

It was a British site said "The skilled graduate visa, partner visa, working holiday visa and temporary overseas workers will all be subject to price increases ranging from AU$70 (£45) to almost AU$1,000 (£643). Not sure if the $70 or $1000 applies to partner but I think I read $1000 somewhere else. Here is a better link http://www.marriagevisahelp.com/inde...january-1-2013

To quote the site above:

"The partner visa application fee increase will take effect from 1 January 2013. Under the proposed changes, the partner visa fees will increase from $2,060 to around $2,700 for fiancée (prospective marriage), de facto partner and spousal visa applications lodged offshore, while the cost of onshore applications will increase from $3,060 to around $4,000. Ms Lundy emphasised that she does not expect demand to change for family migration visas, despite fee increase."

Ok so it is a $640 increase!!! for us as offshore applicants and $940 for the onshore crowd.
