Hi there.

I would be grateful for your advice.

My current 457 visa expires in August this year after 4 years and I need to renew my visa. I didn't carry out my first application, however my current company require me to do it. I've never heard of a RTO asssement & during the application i'm prompted to and was wondering if you could give me advice if I do need this (don't believe I did before) and best way to do it?

See below for instruction:

Have you commenced or completed a 457 visa Skills Assessment through a Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO)? Please click here to view details of Skills Assessment on the TRA website. Help
No Yes
If you have answered No to the question above, and TRA supports the provision of a 457 visa Skills Assessment in your proposed occupation and from your passport country, you should contact a Trades Recognition Australia approved Registered Training Organisation to commence your assessment.

Warm Regards
Tom

Your first step should be to ascertain whether a 457 skills assessment is available/required for your nominated occupation.

I advise all 457 applicants not to rely entirely on advice from employers or agents acting for employers, but to take professional advice about visa options at an early stage.
