Visa options?

I'll try to be short, might be slightly ungrateful, but I'm just really wondering in case anyone kind with knowledge on the matter can share some advice if they feel like its not a narrowed down question.

I'm aus, soon doing the 309 to go down with my dearest.

But we have two friends who are VERY interested in moving/living in Australia as well. Problem is they have a hard time figuring out what path to go towards that.
They don't directly have a vocation from the SOL list from what we can see.
One is a graphic designer bachelor level, the other is a editor/producer/tehnician, also bachelor level just a bit unsure on the exact name of it in english as we're in Croatia.

I/we are looking and digging through the net to know what the best options are for them, but I just wondered in case someone who already has experience on the matter might drop a line here.

Study, work, bridging visas etc etc.. We just want to know which option is most viable, specially as money is something we need to take care of.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi Etharion,

For graphic designers and film/video editors, you can come to Australia if you are sponsored by an employer OR if there is a State government in Australia who is willing to nominate you for that occupation. There is no opportunity to come as an independent skilled migrant at this point in time for those occupations under the Skilled Occupation List.

Are they looking to come here permanently or temporarily? There may be other options for them to work here temporarily. If there is a registered migration agent you trust, please speak to them closely about his matter.

Otherwise I would be happy to do a free consultation for your friends just so they know what their options are.

Graphic designer is on the CSOL list and sponsorship is available from the Northern Territory. This would almost certainly be a 489 though.

Check the SOL/CSOL for any suitable occupations. Check ANZSCO for any suitable occupations that are level 3 or higher.

Check their qualifications and work experience against the relevant occupations in ANZSCO. Once you have narrowed down all possible occupations, check what is required in the way of skills assessments.

Then start looking for possible skilled or employer sponsored visas : sc. 457, 186, 190, 489 for occupations on the CSOL. Sc. 189 for occupations on the SOL. Sc. 187 for all ANZSCO occupations level 3 and above.

Then look at requirements of the various states for sc. 190 and 489.

It's a lot of work...

The OP might consider an online consultation with a registered migration agent to see whether a viable visa strategy can be developed. Any of the RMAs who regularly post on this forum would be able to assist.
