Anyone out there done a medical in Kenya?

Hi,

Just seeing if anyone is around that completed a medical in Kenya and how long it took to get the results.

My partner and I are considering doing his and his daughter's medicals before we put in the application so we can have a "decision-ready application". I know that many advise not to do this as it will lapse but am considering the stress involved with "Kenyan time" and that we may not get the results within the timeframe requested.

And also- assume you did it through KEMRI?

My partner took his daughter into KEMRI to do a DNA test to put in with the application and 3 months later we are still waiting on them to give the results.... ahhh, Kenyan time....

Thanks

Well if you don't have the HAP ID how are you going to do the medicals?

We had a look through his ImmiAccount and he can do a health declaration form thru there and this suggests its possible too-

Have also seen others on here that have done medicals before putting in applications so do believe it is possible

Send hassali.abdi a PM as I believe he did his in Kenya. We applied from an Africian time country and had no issues doing it after we applied. The processing take ages so why not wait? You risk having to do them again. Best to wait and do them at 3 or 6 months.

There is no such thing as a decision ready application anymore. Also with an Africian country they undergo security checks so that is what holds up the processing.

Due to process times I too would wait 3 + months to do medicals, I would apply online (if time runs short later fly to another country to do them if worried about Kenya - Bots, Nam or Joberg).

Has your partner been to Australia before?
Has the child got other parent permission (form 1229) if applicable?

We would love to have the money to fly and do elsewhere but that's just not going to happen.
We know that we would have to do them again if we do before submitting- we are only considering it atm as a way to reduce the stress of it all - still a long way off before we have enough evidence to apply.

Form 1229 was already completed but I will start a new thread on whether we can use them a year after they were signed or we have to do again. Her mother is in full support of coming- have Form 1229, a small custody agreement, a letter of approval, a statement of custody written by my partner and we are maybe considering me adopting her (though, I am not sure if I can handle that stress or waiting for close to a century for it to happen atm ;/)

He has never left Kenya and only got a passport not long ago for the purposes of immigration. Coming to Australia was not on our plans so we are a little stressed about it to start with...

Thanks for your advice, will consider how we will go
xo
