461 Health Care Requirements

Hi there,
We are very close to having our Visa issued, the only thing outstanding is our mandatory proof of health insurance?
My question is what insurance is required, Travel/Health and who do you recommend? We would be only using it for "as per requirement" then looking around Aussie for a local insurance cover when we arrive..

Many thanks
CGB

Many Companies have Health Insurance policies for travelers. BUPA is a large world wide company, that also runs the immigration medical examinations. If you are interested I can assist you with getting a policy with them.

Hi,

We got our 461 visa granted yesterday. In our initial application,we did not provide proof of health insurance. When the CO requested additional information ,she did not ask for proof of health insurance. We just went ahead and purchased a cover by HIF last minute and emailed our CO evidence of that. My visa has no conditions imposed on it. I was expecting condition 8501 ( maintenance of health insurance) to be imposed but under conditions it is written : NIL.I am from a high risk country,Kenya, with no reciprocal health agreement with Australia so I'm surprised they did not impose condition 8501.

I am surprised as well. An Indian client of mine certainly had to provide proof of health insurance prior to grant his 461 visa. Looks like your case officer might have overlooked it.
