Smile Why is it taking so long for them to process my application

I applied last year for a working holiday visa in october. I had to send them different documents so it wasn't completed until December of 2015. It is now June of 2016 and it still says assessment in progress.. that's almost seven months I've been waiting. I have tried to contact them and you just can't ask them if they have forgotten about me.

I have another question.. I do have some what of criminal history (that was all the documents I needed to get to them). Do you think it may be that and if I can't get in on a working holiday visa could I go on just a holiday visa with a criminal history?

Strange. My WHV 462 took 3 days. (I have no criminal history and have a high education)

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Char Go here and see if your criminal history is listed. If it is, you may not qualify.

I believe applications with criminal history go to VACCU for assessment which does add quite a bit of time to the process. Likely all you can do is occasionally ask if there's any other information they need, but hopefully you'll have a decision soon.
