My 461 visa Success Story from a High Risk Country (2016 application).

Hi Everyone,

I have decided to post my 461 visa success story and provide a detailed description of what we provided in our application which might be helpful to others. I am Kenyan and my partner is Kiwi. We have been in a relationship for 2 years now. 8 months of defacto (living together) but with a 2 month period of separation due to a family emergency which had me flying back to Kenya. We explained that in our statutory declarations. We registered our relationship in QLD.

We applied for this visa without any professional help on 1st March 2016 in Nairobi ,Kenya. We received an acknowledgement receipt from AHC Nairobi on 2nd March 2016.We provided the following information in our application :

1) Form 147
2) Form 80
3) Personal Documents

4 passport size photos
Certified copy of passport
Certified copy of birth certificate

Certified copy of passport
Certified copy of New Zealand birth certificate
‘Confirmation of birth in New Zealand’ certificate

4) Relationship Document
Certified copy of Queensland Registered Relationship Certificate

5) Character Documents
Australian Original police certificate
Kenyan Original police certificate with fingerprints

6) Health Insurance Document
Private Health Insurance Policy with HIF

7) History of Relationship
Applicant’s statutory declaration
Partner’s statutory declaration

8) Financial Evidence
Certified copies of our joint bank account statements
Certified copies of Western Union money transfer receipts during our period of separation
Certified copy of bond lodgment letter from RTA
Certified copies of bond and rent payment receipts
Evidence of joint purchase/ownership of goods e.g. furniture

9) Nature of the Household
Certified copy of our current joint lease agreement
Certified copies of RTA entry forms notice
Certified copies of joint utility accounts i.e. Hot water bills, Electricity bills and Internet bill statements
Copies of receipts from our grocery shopping
Correspondences addressed to my partner and I at the same address.

10) Social Context of the Relationship
Copy of Joint Engagement party invitation from our mutual friends
Copy of Joint wedding invitation from our mutual friends
2 Australian citizens’ statutory declarations on form 888
2 Australian permanent residents’ statutory declarations on form 888
Statutory declarations from partner’s mother and our Swedish mutual friend
Evidence of our trips,joint flights and joint activities
20 pictures of us together with our friends and family
Screenshots of our Facebook pages showing our relationship status
Facebook life events screenshots

11) Nature of commitment to each other
Certified copies of our Superannuation fund statements ; naming each other as beneficiaries.
Certified copies of our wills
Certified copies of phone records showing communication to each other during our relationship (Sample provided)
Facebook messages and phone records during our period of separation (Sample provided)
Certified copies of gift receipts
Copies of anniversary cards, birthday cards and Christmas card.

On 21st April 2016,our co requested the following additional information : medicals and my partner's notice of assessment (income tax). We provided everything by 18th May. On 6th June,the co emailed saying that my medicals had cleared and the application will be finalized soon.

We were granted the visa on 22nd June 2016. A processing time of 3 months and 20 days The visa has no conditions imposed on it. Under conditions it is written : NIL.
