189 Visa Waiting Room

Didn't see this anywhere, so thought I'd see who else is waiting for a 189 skilled visa?

The "plan" is to apply at the end of August/beginning of September. I am waiting for my skills assessment to be completed so that I can submit my EOI.

Has anyone applied? Planning to apply? How long did it take from the time you submitted your EOI until you received your invitation?

Here are my details:

English test scores: 29 reading, 30 listening, 30 speaking, 30 writing (TOEFL-iBT: Superior rating)
Skills Assessment: AITSL accepted 19/4/16...currently waiting results. Additional docs sent, re-accepted 27/6/16
Skill set: Secondary Teacher
Total points: 65 pts (or 60 if AITSL drops some years of experience)
EOI: ???
Invite: ???
Visa lodged: ??? (by September 17th, 2016 I hope!)
Medicals: ???
PCC: ???
CO contact: ???
Visa grant: ???

I am a nurse and applied for 189 at 11th May. Still 'Assessment in Progress'. The waiting has been quite distressing!

I understand what you mean! I am stressing, as now I have been told it could take an additional 10 weeks for my skills assessment. That is cutting it very close for my EOI and invitation. I do have a backup plan in that we will file for a partner visa. But the 189 visa is the cheaper and better choice.

All of this is so stressful! Hope you get a positive result soon!

My skill assessment took about 12 weeks. God knows how long the PR process is gonna take. To be honest, I very much resent all the hoops they make us jump through here. I am getting impatient.

I agree! So much that you have to do...and even following all the rules, there are still other things they don't tell you and you only find out when you are trying to go through the process. Been working on all of my stuff to apply for the 189 for 9 months now. Just when I thought I finally had everything, I got hit with needing another document...even though it was redundant. My fault, but it reset my skills assessment time line. Just hope I can apply for the visa before my time runs out. Then, hoping the actual pr visa goes smoothly! I was going to hire an agent to help...but had other things hit, that took the money I had set aside for it.

Looking back, I will always recommend using an agent! They already know all the ins and outs and can avoid the pitfalls of this entire process.

189 submitted in Oct 2015

I submitted my application for 189 in October 2015. The last I heard from my CO was in March 2016. Since then the status is "Assessment in progress"
I think I have passed the stress stage and now just feel blank cos I have no information on what's happening with my application.
