Is my "visa expiry date" the last day of working rights? Or the day to leave?

I can't find reliable information on these simple questions and I keep getting bad advice from people.

My working visa (recognised graduate 476) finishes on Sat 9 July. (It says initial stay date 9 july on my VEVO).

Question 1) Can I work on Sat 9th June or must I cease work on 8 July.

I have an application in for a e600 tourist visa so I can tour for a month or so. Let suppose they grant that in the next few days:

Question 2) Do I have to leave the country and come back in or can I just stay here and transition from the 476 on the 9th July to the e600 on the 10th of July?

I selected the option that says "if you are in australia click here" but I hear a lot of weird advice that I have to leave, and if I do new zealand isn't abroad enough and it must be further etc.

I feel like I should find the answers to these easy enough with google but I never do. So thank you for reading!

You can work until the last day of your visa. If you tourist visa is granted you will not have to leave the country.
